A new perspective of Museum historians on the expansion of the Auschwitz camp

"The Expansion of KL Auschwitz 1942-1945 in the Light of the Source Materials", the new English-Polish publication of the Museum, tells us—through an analysis of documents, many of which never published—about the process of development of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. The authors of the publication are historians of the Museum Research Centre: Igor Bartosik, Łukasz Martyniak and Piotr Setkiewicz.

1 million 184 thousand people visited the Memorial in 2022

In 2022, over 1 million 184 thousand people visited the Memorial. Although a considerable increase compared to the previous two years, it is worth remembering that in the period before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Museum welcomed more than two million visitors a year.

Meeting of the Council of the International Centre for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust

The summary and evaluation of activities of the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at the Auschwitz Museum in the years 2019-22 as well as challenges for ICEAH during the pandemic and the establishment of the new Visitor Services Centre constituted main topics on the agenda of the inaugural meeting of the new term of office of the ICEAH Council (2022-26) organized on 19 December in Oświęcim.

French distinctions awarded to the representatives of the Museum

On December 12th, the ceremony of awarding the insignia of the Order of Arts and Letters to the Director of the Auschwitz Museum Piotr M.A. Cywiński, Ph.D. (Officer’s grade) and to Dorota Kuczyńska representing Museum Press Office (Knight’s grade), was held in the French Ambassador’s residence in Warsaw.

Commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the death of Grigol Peradze attended by the President of Georgia

80th anniversary of the death of archimandrite Grigol Peradze, Orthodox martyr saint murdered in the German Nazi concentration camp on December 6th 1942, was commemorated at the Auschwitz Memorial. Salome Zurabiszwili, President of Georgia, participated in the ceremony.
