Conservation works have been completed on two guard towers at Auschwitz II-Birkenau

Conservation works have been completed on the second of the historical guard towers at the site of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Both buildings were damaged in March 2019 by strong gusts of wind. The Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation financed the works.
A new publication dedicated to the fate of Polish foresters in Auschwitz

„Księga Pamięci leśników deportowanych do KL Auschwitz w latach 1940-1944” (“The Memorial Book of Foresters Deported to Auschwitz between 1940 and 1944”) is the title of the latest publication of the Auschwitz Museum. It summarises the history of about 205 Polish foresters deported to the German Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. In the opinion of the historian at the Bohdan Piętka Research Centre, who analysed the archival documentation, an estimated 170 of these foresters died in this or other concentration camps to which they were transferred.
