On the 74th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, the director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum paid tribute to its heroes and victims - including the 13,000 residents of the capital deported by the Germans to the Auschwitz camp. Precisely at 5 pm - the “W” hour, which commenced the insurgent fight; he laid a wreath at the Death Wall in the courtyard of Block 11 of the former Auschwitz I camp.

Over 250 students from the Wodzisław district took part in the project “School against hatred” by learning about the history of German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau as well as taking part in workshops which were aimed at helping the young in facing the problem of hatred at school.

Volunteers and representatives of institutions supporting voluntary work at the Memorial were honoured with the awards “If Not for Those Ten...” The awards were presented at the 71st anniversary of the creation of the Museum at the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Young people from the Lower Silesia Special School and Education Centre No. 12 for the Deaf and hearing impaired in Wrocław visited the Memorial under the internship project implemented jointly with the Voluntary Service Office of the International Centre for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust.
