“Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away” exhibition with the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award

The exhibition „Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away” prepared jointly by the Spanish company Musealia and the Auschwitz Memorial has received the Grand Prix of the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award. It is the most prestigious European award in the heritage field. The project was second in Public Choice Award. The awards were presented in a special online ceremony on 10 November 2020.

The director of the Auschwitz Museum Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński is the only person from Central Europe included on the list of the Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer List 2020. He is also the only person currently working in the field of the memory of genocides and crimes against humanity.

A Notebook with camp poems belonging to former prisoner Bożena Janina Zdunek has enriched the Archives of the Memorial

The original notebook with manuscripts of poems about the camp, which belonged to a former Auschwitz and Ravensbrück camp prisoner Janina Zdunek (known in the camp as Musiewicz), was donated to the Museum by her son, Professor Adam Zdunek.

On 6 October in Logroño, in the autonomous community of La Rioja, the establishment of the National Institute of Auschwitz-Birkenau in Spain was officially announced, which will support the activities of the Auschwitz Museum Diplomacy of Remembrance in the country.
