President Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania visited the Museum on April 6, 2000.

Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Mrs. Ciampi visited the Museum on March 15, 2000.

The third in a series of workshops on the preparation of an Oswiecim Regional Development Strategy, organized by the Chancery of the Polish Prime Minister and the Regional Development Agency Inc. of Bielsko-Biala, was held on March 10-12 at the Royal Castle in Niepolomice.

An exhibition titled "Portraits..." will be on view at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum from March 7-September 30, 2000.

After preservation in Cracow, a work done in charcoal by an Auschwitz prisoner has been added to the museum collections.

President Aleksander Kwasniewski decorated former Auschwitz concentration camp prisoners and members of the Auschwitz Preservation Association.
