‘Children at Auschwitz’ is a new online lesson created by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust. Its author is Helena Kubica.

Father Maximilian Maria Kolbe, a Franciscan, was killed in the German Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp 80 years ago. The anniversary of this event was commemorated at the Memorial.

The 8th International Summer Academy, organized by the International Centre for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust, took place on July 9-30, 2021.

On the night of August 2/3, 1944, in Auschwitz II-Birkenau the Germans liquidated the so-called family camp for Gypsies (Zigeunerfamilienlager). About 4,300 children, women and men, the last Roma prisoners of the camp, were murdered in gas chambers. Today, August 2 is celebrated in Poland as the Sinti and Roma Genocide Remebrance Day. The ceremony was attended by representatives of state authorities, ambassadors, representatives of local authorities, cultural institutions and museums. During the celebrations, Director Cywiński presented Romani Rose with the “Light of Remembrance”, the highest award at the Memorial, which is awarded to people who have contributed most to education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust.

History teachers from Ukraine participated in a two-day online seminar titled "Auschwitz - History and Symbolism," which took place on July 12 and 13. The event was organized by the International Centre for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust in cooperation with the Ukrainian Holocaust Research Institute "Tkuma".

Exclusions were the topic of an international educational conference organised by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at the Auschwitz Museum entitled "If This Is a Man" Exclusions in the Modern World".
