MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM
AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU FORMER GERMAN NAZI CONCENTRATION AND EXTERMINATION CAMP
The International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at the Auschwitz Museum, together with the Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen Memorials, is introducing a pilot seminar entitled "How to Deal with a Difficult Past? - Educational Perspectives on National Socialism, Shoah, and the Second World War" for teachers from Germany and Poland.
The 30th March of the Living was held at the site of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz on 18 April 2023. It was led by a group of about 40 Auschwitz and Holocaust Survivors. The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, also attended the main ceremony.
The Museum Conservation Laboratories initiated a two-year project to conserve approximately 8,000 children's shoes that are part of the Memorial Collections. These shoes are a poignant symbol of the suffering of the youngest victims of the German Nazi Auschwitz camp.
The International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at the Auschwitz Memorial will organize two editions of the International Summer Academy in 2023 – the 1st and 2nd level seminars.
