War Crimes Investigatory Commissions

Special Soviet and Polish commissions charged with preserving the evidence of the crimes worked at the site in the first months after liberation. Two years later, the Polish Supreme National Tribunal used reports written and documents collected by the Polish commission in the trials of former Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and forty members of the camp garrison.
