On January 27, more than 60 Auschwitz survivors met at the site of the former Birkenau camp to commemorate the 73nrd anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. The President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda has assumed honorary patronage of the event.

Polish-English report summarizing the year 2017 in the Auschwitz Memorial and Museum has been published. In his introduction, director Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński emphasized how important is memory about Auschwitz in building the future free from ideologies of hatred.

Two million one hundred thousand people from all over the world visited the site of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, which are both protected by the Museum, in 2017. It’s over 50 thousand more than in 2016, when for the first time the attendance at the Memorial was over 2 million visitors.

"The extermination of Jews at KL Auschwitz" is a new online lesson created by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust. It's available in English, French, German, Polsh and Spanish. The author of the lesson is Dr. Piotr Setkiewicz, the head of the Research Center of the Auschwitz Memorial.

12 days of the seminar for teachers, educators as well as employees of Memorial Sites from Poland, organized in Jerusalem within the framework of cooperation between Yad Vashem in Jerusalem and the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust came to its end.

An exhibition titled “Eine deutliche Spur” (Visible traces) was inaugurated in Berlin on the occasion of 30 years of cooperation between the Auschwitz Museum, Volkswagen Group and the International Auschwitz Committee.
