19 Million Zloty from the UE for the Conservation of Auschwitz

Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski and Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński have signed an agreement in Warsaw that will serve as the basis for the financing of conservation work at the Auschwitz site with European funds. The total amount of the grant is 19 million zloty. The applications submitted by the Museum received high marks—52 out of a possible 62 points—and ranked second in the category “The Protection and Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Super-Regional Significance.”

Settlement Reached over Auschwitz Suitcase

A settlement has been reached to end a lawsuit in a Paris court over a suitcase from the collections of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim. The suitcase was loaned to the Shoah Memorial Museum in Paris in 2005.

After years of Efforts Center for Education Will Have Its Seat

After almost five years of efforts, it will be possible to set up the headquarters of the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust in the building known as the “Old Theater.” From the moment in 2005 when it was called into existence by the Polish government, at the urging of former prisoners, the ICEAH has been organizing educational programs at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial to make it possible for young people to learn in depth about the tragic history of this place.

“Auschwitz — my land” for the fourth time

The latest edition of the project “Auschwitz — my land. History and remembrance after 60 years” has finished. At the International Youth Meeting Center, awards and honors were handed out to those taking part in the literary and photographic contest, as well as to the teachers who oversaw the young people who took part in the project. The meeting was combined with an exhibition of the work.

Auschwitz Survivors. Clinical Psychiatric Studies

The publication of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum 'Auschwitz Survivors. Clinical Psychiatric Studies' is available in the Museum's on-line bookshop. This anthology constitutes a selection from over four hundred papers written by staff from the Academy of Medicine in Cracow, dealing with the Nazi-German Occupation and former Polish political prisoners of concentration camps.
