Raphael Lemkin’s Seminar

In the State Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau a seminar named in honor of Raphael Lemkin, which is devoted to genocide and its prevention, took place. Its aim is to sensitize middle management government employees from around the world on the issue of genocide, including its political, economic and humanitarian consequences.

Educational session - If the Stars Could Only Speak

In May at the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum took place an educational session If the Stars Could Only Speak that included the attendance and participation of Batsheva Dagan – Israeli writer, poet, and former prisoner of the Auschwitz Concentration and Death Camp who was hosted by the Museum connection with the publication of two of her books for children, Czika, the Dog in the Ghetto and If the Stars Could Only Speak.

Canada to support the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation

Canada shall provide 400 thousand Canadian dollars for the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation’s Perpetual Fund. Prime Minister Stephen Harper gave this information during the visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to Canada.

Prime Minister of Belgium along with European youth visit the Auschwitz Memorial Site

On May 8th, Prime Minister of Belgium, Elio Di Rupo, visited the Auschwitz Memorial Site and Museum. During his visit, he met with a thousand members group of European youth. 720 Belgians and 280 representatives of other European countries set off May 5th on a special train from the Schaerbeek station, which, during the Second World War, Nazis used to deport the Jews during the Holocaust.

Original camp secret messages enriched museum Archives

53 original camp secret messages went to the Archives of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. Among them are copies of the camp's morgue books, or lists of names of those who were murdered in gas chambers. A few secret letters are materials previously unknown to historians of the Museum.

The Fate of Children in Auschwitz – Contest Finale

In April, a conference to summarize the seventh nation-wide edition of the educational project for middle and high school aged youth, Auschwitz — My Land. History and Remeberance After the Years, took place. Its main goal is to spread knowledge about the history of former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
