On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Memorial Site and Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, a new book has been released — a collection of 14 essays written by Piotr MA Cywiński who for several years has been director of the world's most famous Memorial Site and symbol of the Shoah.

On July 2, 1947, the Polish Sejm adopted a law on the establishment of the Auschwitz Museum and Memorial Site on the grounds of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. While celebrating the 65th anniversary the opening of a new exhibition “Auschwitz. Memory. World,” a new awards ceremony for volunteers of the Memorial Site and the presentation of the new Museum publication — available in Polish language version — “Epitaph… and other written concerns” took place.

Over 100 people participated in the conference, "Auschwitz and the Holocaust against the background of crimes of genocide in the twentieth and twenty-first century", whose theme was "The entity against crimes." Among the participants were, among others: teachers, educators, lecturers and other people engaged in the dissemination of knowledge about the Holocaust, crimes of genocide and human rights.

This new publication — released in Polish language — is the result of the two national conferences, "Auschwitz and the Holocaust against the crimes of genocide in the twentieth century," which were co-organised in 2010-2011 by the State Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau. The aim of the conference was a discussion on the nature and the consequences of genocide crimes in the contemporary world and reflection on the possibilities of education in the context of its prevention.

First open online lesson of the Auschwitz Museum

The "Auschwitz — Concentration and Extermination Camp" online lesson, which focus closer on the most important topics in the history of the Nazi German camp, is available in Polish version language on the Museum's website. The Auschwitz Museum is a pioneer of e-learning in institutions of this kind in Poland.
