On the 7 and 8 May, one thousand young Europeans visited the Auschwitz Memorial Site and Museum. They came to Poland as part of the special project “Train of 1,000.” The journey from Brussels to Auschwitz was organized to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the end of World War II.
70th Anniversary of Liberation in Media Converage

Media activities connected with the 70th anniversary of the liberation of KL Auschwitz, which fell on January 27 2015, were summarized in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. Nearly 300 former prisoners from Poland and many other countries of the world were the most important participants of the commemorative event. The representatives of Polish authorities as well as the leaders of over 50 countries and international organizations listened to the words of the witnesses.
European Ombudsmen at the Auschwitz Memorial

“There is no better response to crime, genocide and armed aggression than the protection of human rights”, stated ombudsmen from over 30 European countries and regions after visiting the Auschwitz Memorial. The delegation, including Polish Human Rights Defender Professor Irena Lipowicz and European Ombudsman Emily O'Reilly, visited the Auschwitz Museum on April 29.
