“Speaking Memories – The Last Witnesses of the Holocaust” is the title of an exhibition open at the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm. It is devoted to Holocaust survivors who rebuilt their lives in Sweden after the war. The exhibition will run until 1 September 2019.
The exhibition presenting the Eiss Archive was opened at the UN Office in Geneva. The unique collection of documents was acquired in August by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum thanks to the enormous commitment of the Polish diplomacy and support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will present the most comprehensive Holocaust exhibition about Auschwitz ever exhibited in North America. Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. will open in New York City on May 8, 2019 and run through January 3, 2020.
Polish-English report summarizing the year 2018 at the Auschwitz Museum and Memorial was published. In his introduction, Director Piotr M. A. Cywiński emphasized how important it is to face in the context of the history of Auschwitz our modern responsibility.
On January 22nd Frans Timmermans, Vice-President of the European Commission, visited the Auschwitz Memorial and Museum. The guest was welcomed by Andrzej Kacorzyk, Deputy Director of the Museum, Head of the International Center of Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust.
Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński, Director of the Auschwitz Museum, was bestowed the Legion of Honour, the highest French order of merit. The ceremony took place on January 17th at the Embassy of France in Warsaw.
