The new Visitor Service Center at the Auschwitz Memorial will be established among others thanks to co-financing from the European Union and support from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. A call for tender has been launched for the main contractor of the project "Improving the access to cultural resources by extending the visit route of Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum with post-camp space of Schlachthaus and Molkerei buildings together with the reconstruction of the cinema hall" which is scheduled to be completed in 2022.

"Studying the Holocaust for the development of an atmosphere of tolerance" is the title of a seminar addressed to Polish educators, held on 24-29 March 2019 in the Dniepr and Kiev. It was attended by 22 people, teachers and guide (educators) of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.

The origins of Auschwitz in the light of source materials, the new Polish-English publication of the Museum, tells us—through an analysis of almost 100 archival documents, most of which have not yet been published—about the origins of the Auschwitz camp and the early stages of its operation. The authors of the publication are historians of the Museum Research Centre: Igor Bartosik, Łukasz Martyniak and Piotr Setkiewicz.

Sara Bloomfield, the director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, has been awarded the highest recognition of the Auschwitz Memorial - the Light of Remembrance. The award was presented to her in Washington D.C. by the Director of the Auschwitz Museum, Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński.

The International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust is opening the application session to participate in the 7th edition of the International Summer Academy. This English-speaking program will take place from 20 to 27 July 2019 and the German-speaking from 17 to 23 August 2019 at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. The seminar is addressed to teachers, educators, historians, employees of memorial sites, students and all those interested in the history of WWII and the Holocaust.

On 15th February, the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda and the Vice-President of the United States Mike Pence together with their spouses visited the Auschwitz Memorial and Museum. They were accompanied on the tour of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp by the director of the Museum, Dr. Piotr M.A. Cywiński. Other guests included the President of the World Jewish Congress Ronald S. Lauder, Chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Schudrich and Franciscan friar Rev. Piotr Cuber, guardian of the St. Maximilian Center in Harmęże.
