The Auschwitz Museum director on the 50 top museum influencers list

The director of the Auschwitz Museum Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński is the only person from Central Europe on the Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer List 2020. He is also the only person there currently working in the field of the memory of genocides and crimes against humanity.

Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer List is intended to draw attention to individuals whose innovativeness and creativity influences the evolution of museum thought and practice in the everyday life of various museums around the world, and also –  in the era of pandemics – draws attention to the ways to survive in this extremely difficult time.

„2020 has been a challenging year for museums. The impact of COVID-19 has been devastating, with around 90% of the world’s museums closing temporarily due to the pandemic. Most will suffer significant damage and experts suggest that up to 1 in 8 museums worldwide might not reopen” – wrote the authors of the list.

„As museums reopen, the visitor experience they deliver will be different. The pandemic has been an accelerator. New initiatives, technologies and innovations will shape the museum of tomorrow. And it is the people driving and enabling this change we celebrate with this list” – they stated.
