April 25th, 2009, the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at the State Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau organized an educational seminar on the camp orchestras in Auschwitz.

April 4th, 2009, the next , “Resettlement — Totalitarianism — The Holocaust”, organized by the Pedagogical University of Cracow and International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust began.

In the March issue of Oś [Axis], we recommend two texts connected with art. The first of them, by the director of the State Museum in Oświęcim, Dr. Piotr M.A. Cywiński, presents the concept of the exhibition of camp art planned for the kitchen building at the site of the Auschwitz I camp.

Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum Director Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Director Sara Bloomfield signed an agreement in Washington for the loan of about a thousand objects from the collections of the Auschwitz Memorial, which will go on display as part of the USHMM main exhibition. Most of the items are utensils and other everyday objects that belonged to Jewish families sent to their death at Auschwitz, the largest Nazi German death camp.

The main article in the second English language edition of "Oś" [Axis] magazine is a lecture by the director of Auschwitz Memorial Dr. Piotr M.A. Cywiński given for students of State Higher Vocational School in Oświęcim. The topic of the lecture was “The Future of Remembrance—A Challenge for the 21st Century”.

On March 18, 2009 (Wednesday) between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. due to conservation works on wiring there will be a power cut in the Museum. In the ensuing situation the following impediments will appear.
