The Holocaust: Understanding Why
The first Polish supplementary history textbook devoted to the extermination of the Jews during the Second World War has been published. It is intended for students in intermediate and secondary schools.
The authors are Robert Szuchta and Piotr Trojański, history teachers who specialize in the Holocaust and the history of national minorities in Poland. They published a ten-part series of articles in Mówią Wieki [the Centuries Speak] magazine on “The Holocuast: Understanding Why.” The series is the basis for the book and also for a teaching program on the subject approved by the Ministry of Education.
Those interested in the book had a chance to talk with its authors during a promotional meeting held at the Stara Synagoga (Old Synagogue) in Cracow on October 25.
