The Fate of Children in Auschwitz – Contest Finale
In April, a conference to summarize the seventh nation-wide edition of the educational project for middle and high school aged youth, Auschwitz — My Land. History and Remeberance After the Years, took place. Its main goal is to spread knowledge about the history of former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
In this edition 530 students from 24 schools in Poland, including cities, among others: Sosnowiec, Chorzów, Tychy, Oświęcim, Konin, and Buska–Zdrój, participated in a study visit to the Memorial Site. Also nearly 100 works were entered in the contest on The Fate of Children in Auschwitz in two categories: literary and artistic works.
In the literature category, in which the commission granted awards for one first and two second places, students sent poems, diaries, letters, interviews and stories. Among the works of art, photographs, books, comics, sculptures, posters, drawings and models were presented. Here, the commission granted three awards in every category.
The project was financed by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Death Camp Victims Memorial Foundation and organized by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust, Małopolska District Teaching Training Center in Oświęcim, as well as the International Youth Meeting Center.

Nearly 4000 students have taken part in the project, which has been held since 2004.
