The City Reaches Out to Tourists
The City Tourist Information Point has opened at the Museum. Its staff will offer practical help and encourage them to visit the city of Oświęcim and learn about its 800-year history.
There will be information about local accommodations and restaurants, and current and future cultural events, as well as maps and guides for those interested in visiting the city on their own. There will also be information about trains, intercity busses, and municipal mass transit for visitors using public transportation.
There are plans to offer tourist information on the entire Auschwitz area, and to cooperate with information centers in other cities (mostly in Cracow). The City Information Point will soon open a website offering the information mentioned above and the possibility of reserving accommodations online.
The Point is located in the main visitor reception building at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim (to the right of the entrance) and is open during the same hours as the Museum. The staff speak Polish, English, and German.
