The aim of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation is to finance a long-term programme of conservation of the sites and remains of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. The primary aim of these activities is to preserve as much as possible the authenticity and legibility of the space of the former camp for future generations.

So far, the Endowment Fund managed by the Foundation has been supported by 37 countries, while individual donors have contributed 9 million euros as part of the "18 Pillars of Remembrance" campaign. The financial declarations of the support amount to ca. 112 million of the planned 120 million euros and the Foundation's accounts already contain more than 104 million euros.

In 2017, the amount of support allocated by the Foundation for conservation works at the Auschwitz Memorial is estimated at 11 million zlotys.
