Seminar for Teachers and Educators from Romania
Teachers and educators from Romania traveled to Poland from August 31-September 2 to take part in an educational seminar titled The Symbolism of Auschwitz: Education at a Memorial Site, prepared by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust.
The three-day seminar is intended to familiarize the Romanian teachers with the history of Auschwitz and the work of the Museum, and to offer them a chance to cooperate on the educational level.
The seminar forms a part of the introduction of the How to Teach about the Holocaust project in Romania, as well as a continuation of the cooperation that has been underway for 6 years between the Auschwitz Museum and the University of Cluj, Romania. This year, for the first time, journalist observers accompanied the teachers and educators.
The schedule called for the participants to spend the first two days in sessions conducted by Museum staff. On the last day, they traveled to Cracow, where they learned about the city's history and visited the Old Town and Kazimierz.
