Seminar for educators from Poland and Czech Republic is completed
The seminar „Auschwitz —History and Symbolism” organized by International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust with cooperation with Terezin Memorial Site is now completed.
In the project participated 23 educators from grammar and secondary schools from Poland and Czech Republic, who graduated from the special methodological course in scope of teaching about Holocaust, as well as those who graduated from the teacher seminar in Yad Vashem — The Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority in Jerusalem.
Seminar consisted of the cycle of monographic courses, lectures and workshops on the ways of teaching about the Holocaust and World War II. Participants had an opportunity to present their own education projects, which contributed to the further discussion on teaching systems in both countries and modern methods of work with young people. An important element of the seminar was a special visit to the area of the former Auschwitz Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp, including a visit in locations, which underwent the conservation process and were just recently opened for visitors. Educators had an opportunity to participate in the meeting with the witness to history — Bogdan Bartnikowski, the author of Dzieciństwo w pasiakach (Childhood in Stripped Uniform) memoirs.
