Recruitment for the first edition of the International Summer Academy for Graduates
International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust announces recruitment for the first edition of the International Summer Academy for Graduates (2-8 July, 2016). It is organized as part of educational programs prepared by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
The Summer Academy for Graduates addresses teachers, educators, researchers and all those who are interested in the historical, sociological and religious aspects of Auschwitz and the Holocaust. The candidates should also be graduates from one of the International Summer Academies organized by the ICEAH in the previous years.
The program of the Academy includes modules concerning academic research in the field, commemoration and preservation of authentic historical sites as well as reflection on how memory of Auschwitz and the Holocaust can be incorporated into educational values of modern civic societies. Moreover the participants will have opportunity to visit places in Eastern Poland connected to the history of Polish Jews and the Holocaust. The study visits to the memorial sites in Bełżec and the Majdanek State Museum as well as the city of Lublin will allow educators to enrich their knowledge of the history of WWII and the Holocaust.
Moreover, the Academy schedule comprises series of lectures and discussions on subjects connected with Auschwitz and other German Nazi concentration and extermination camps and its post-war history as well as with the topic of the Polish-Jewish relations.
The cost of participation in the Academy is 500 EUR, and includes the program, accommodation and board. Participants also need to cover costs of insurance and travel to Poland.
