Polish Educators at Yad Vashem

Another course in the series organized by the Yad Vashem Memorial Institute in cooperation with the Museum was held in Israel from November 16 to 30. The 34 participants from Poland included two Museum staff members. Most of the group were history teachers. There were also Polish teachers, priests, and several guides from the Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial.

Subjects included the history of anti-Semitism, relations between the Church and the Jews in medieval Europe, Polish-Jewish relations against the background of excursions to Poland by young the Israelis, and the history of the Judenrat. The afternoons were mainly dedicated to sightseeing in Jerusalem and the vicinity. Course participants also visited Tel Aviv, Jaffa, the Dead Sea area, and the valley of the Jordan.
