Online conference on the 82nd anniversary of the first Poles to Auschwitz - invitation

On 14 June, a conference will be held at the Auschwitz Memorial on the fate of Polish foresters involved in the resistance movement during World War II and the history of the first transports of Poles to the Nazi German camp of Auschwitz. The programme also includes a discussion with family members of survivors. The entire event will be streamed online with simultaneous English translation.

 

The conference complements the commemoration of the 82nd anniversary of the deportation of the first Poles to KL Auschwitz.

On the day preceding the conference, participants will visit the sites of the former Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau camps.

The organisers of the conference are: The International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust, the St. John Gwalbert Association of Foresters and the State Forests.

Approximately 205 forestry workers were deported to the KL Auschwitz camp during the entire period of its operation. At least 170 of them perished in this or other concentration camps.
