June 14 To Be Nazi Concentration Camp Victims Remembrance Day in Poland
The Polish Sejm (parliament) has voted to make June 14 Nazi Concentration Camp Victims Remembrance Day.
In an act passed on Thursday—the 66th anniversary of the arrival at Auschwitz Concentration Camp of the first transport of Polish political prisoners—delegates also paid homage to all the victims of Nazi atrocities.
"We join with our sentiments in Pope Benedict XVI's words about the lesson for the human future that flows from the place where hatred for people reached its farthest boundaries," the act reads.
The act also lists the members of the Polish parliament who perished in Auschwitz.
