International Summer Academy 2018 - Call for Participants
The International Centre for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust calls for enrollment to the 6th edition of the International Summer Academy in English, which will take place 4-10 August 2018 at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum . The seminar is addressed to teachers, educators, historians, employees of memorial sites and all those interested in the history of the II World War and the Holocaust.
During the ISA participants will spend one day in Cracow, learning about the history of the city during the German occupation and the fate of Cracow Jews over the last few centuries. The second part will take place in Oświęcim, where in addition to study visits of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, participants will visit the Archives, the Collections and the Conservation Laboratory of the Memorial as well as hear lectures and presentations on various aspects of the camp’s operation. The group will also learn the history of the local Jewish community by visiting the Auschwitz Jewish Centre and discussing the significance of Auschwitz in the contemporary world.
All participants will receive certificates.
The cost of participation in the seminar is € 500 and includes accommodation, meals and the programme. Participants must additionally cover the cost of insurance and transportation to and from Oświęcim.
A completed application form along with a cover letter should be sent to no later than 15 April 2018. Admission to the seminar shall be on the first-come, first-served basis.
