Events commemorating June 14 with National Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland

Following the request of the Museum, President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda took National Patronage over the events commemorating the National Day of Remembrance of the Victims of German Nazi Concentration Camps and Extermination Camps that will take place on 14 June at the Auschwitz Memorial. On that day, 80 years ago, Germans deported from Tarnów the first transport of Poles to the newly created concentration camp.

We would like to thank for all remarkable gestures of solidarity and support that the Auschwitz Museum is experiencing in the period of forced shut down due to coronavirus epidemic because of which the Memorial is not available for visitors.

The Auschwitz Museum acquires the second part of the archive concerning the Ładoś Group

After nearly two years of negotiations, the Auschwitz Museum acquired original documents of the second part of the so-called Eiss Archive. Among them, one can find several dozen photos of Jews, including famous figures that the group led by Polish Ambassador in Bern Aleksander Ładoś attempted to provide with Latin American documents. Analyses confirmed the authenticity of the collection.

Work of the Museum in connection with the presence of coronavirus in the world

Due to the decision of the government to close all museums and cultural institutions in Poland we inform that the Auschwitz Memorial is closed until further notice. No correspondence will be conducted and no telephone and on-site information will be provided. All matters that you send us via e-mail will be dealt with after the closure of the Museum is over. We kindly ask for your understanding in these difficult circumstances.

Call for participants: "Shaping the memory about Auschwitz and the Holocaust 75 years after the liberation"

We are pleased to announce the seminar for graduates of the ICEAH projects “Shaping the memory about Auschwitz and the Holocaust 75 years after the liberation” organized by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. It will take place on August 1-8, 2020. Application deadline is April 15, 2020. Results of the recruitment process will be announced till April 20, 2020.

The Auschwitz Museum appreciated by the Portuguese royal dynasty

Director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum Piotr Cywiński, Ph.D., was honoured with the commandery of the Order of Saint Sebastian and Marianna Ossolińska, Head of the Diplomacy of Remembrance at the Auschwitz Museum and President of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute, with a medal awarded to women.
