The Auschwitz Museum has released its Annual Report. The color booklet, over 60 pages long, features information about the most important events of 2006. This is the first time that the Report has appeared in such an attractive form, and that it is aimed at such a broad audience.

Competition Announced for a Poster Commemorating the Holocaust

Warsaw, February 7 (PAP-Polish Press Agency) – A poster competition on the theme of “The Holocaust—Eternal Memory,” organized by the United Nations Information Center, the Shalom Foundation, and the Polish Ministry of National Education, is intended to foster knowledge about the Holocaust, encourage sensitivity towards others, and promote the humanistic values associated with the struggle against intolerance, xenophobia, discrimination, and racism.

February 12, Warsaw (PAP – Polish Press Agency) He has been the Polish foreign minister, a writer and historian, a wartime member of the Jewish Aid Council, an Auschwitz prisoner, and an indefatigable proponent of Polish-German and Polish-Jewish dialogue. His friends call him a phenomenal example of vitality with an unconquerable nature. On February 19, Professor Władysław Bartoszewski observes his 85th birthday.

New Main Exhibition Planned for the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial

Oświęcim, January 30 (PAP – Polish Press Agency) – Preliminary proposals for a thorough transformation of the main exhibition at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum will be presented and discussed at the next session of the International Auschwitz Council, in early July, Museum Director Piotr M.A. Cywiński told PAP on Tuesday.

Auschwitz Museum Staff Rescue a Painting Decorating the SS Kitchen

Oświęcim (PAP-Polish Press Agency) – Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum staff have saved a painting of a man and woman in SS uniforms and a child in a Hitlerjugend uniform, which decorated the SS kitchen in the Auschwitz camp.

2007 Training Session for Auschwitz Museum Guides

The annual training sessions for the more than 200 Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum guides has begun. As in the previous year, the training program has been developed by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust, which has been in operation for two years.
