The Auschwitz–Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim has the honor of inviting to the commemoration of the 62nd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the largest Nazi German death camp, on January 27, 2007.

The grand finale of the Withered Roses contest was held at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum on January 12, 2007, and was accompanied by the premiere of the film The Escapee.

Auschwitz in Sculpture, by Jolanta Kupiec—an art historian who has served for many years on the staff of the Collections Department at the Museum—provides readers with a new educational resource on the art works held at this special memorial site. These sculptures round out the image of the history of Auschwitz, serving as visual reminders of the crimes committed there. They are compelling reminders of the depravity caused by Nazism and war.

The local authorities taking part in the Government Oświęcim Strategic Program are to receive 6 million złotych from the Polish budget this year and in each of the next 4 years.

January 3, Oświęcim (PAP-Polish Press Agency) – The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum has acquired a collection of 87 unique black-and-white photographs, taken after liberation in the fall of 1945 and at the beginning of 1946, from Warsaw resident and former prisoner Zbigniew Klawender, Museum Archives head Piotr Setkiewicz told PAP.

The deadline has passed for the submission of entries to the Withered Rose Competition, organized by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust. The young entrants submitted 26 works. The results will be announced on January 12, 2007.
