The president of Greece, Karolos Papoulias, visited the Memorial Site and Museum of Auschwitz on 9 July as part of his official two-day visit to Poland.

Nearly 50 people attended the Raphael Lemkin seminar, organised by the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (AIPR), in collaboration with the International Centre for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust.

At the 66th anniversary of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, the "If not for those ten..." awards were presented. This is a distinction awarded by the director of the Museum to volunteers and representatives of institutions each year for their support at the Memorial Site.

“Paths of my life. Recollections of a violinist from Birkenau” is the title of the memoirs of Heleny Dunicz Niwińska, a former prisoner of Auschwitz who spent two years playing in the women’s orchestra in the German Nazi camp of Auschwitz II-Birkenau. This latest book published by the Auschwitz Museum is the first Polish publication devoted to the women’s orchestra....

Director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and president of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation, Dr Piotr M.A. Cywiński, was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Saint Charles, the highest decoration of state of the Principality of Monaco.

The Perpetual Fund created and managed by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation currently includes 23 countries. The total financial declarations amount to ca. €100 million of which almost €47 million has already been contributed to the Foundation. The Foundation had its fifth session at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister in Warsaw. During the meeting two new members of the Council were appointed: Henryk Wujec and Wojciech Soczewica.
