The 18th session of the International Auschwitz Council, reporting to the Prime Minister of the Polish Republic, has concluded at the Chancellery of the President of the Council of Ministers in Warsaw. Professor Władysław Bartoszewski chaired the meeting.
18,522 archival photographs of people deported to Auschwitz from Nazi-occupied Belgium can be seen on a touch-screen installed in the Belgian national exhibition in block 20 at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
For the second year running, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage awarded its Benefactor of Polish Culture prizes at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Ronald S. Lauder, nominated by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, won the prize in the Donor category. His support has enabled the Museum to install up-to-date conservation workshops and studios.
A meeting of the Program Board of the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust has taken place at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
For the forth time, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum has hosted participants of the European Seminar: Auschwitz and the Holocaust in the context of teaching about memory in Europe.
Another volume of “Voices of Memory” is to be published, this time dealing with the mass murder of the Roma in Auschwitz-Birkenau. This will be a joint project of the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust and the Association of Roma in Poland.
Images from www.auschwitz.org may be used only in publications relating to the history of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau or the activities of the Auschwitz Memorial. Their use must not tarnish the good reputation of the victims of KL Auschwitz. Any interference in the integrity of the images – including cropping or graphic processing – is prohibited.
