MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU FORMER GERMAN NAZI
CONCENTRATION AND EXTERMINATION CAMP

Online guided tours

Online guided tours

What is an online tour?

The "Auschwitz in Front of Your Eyes" platform allows for guided online tours of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. This means that the group watches the tour on a screen. Participation does not require installing any additional software.

The online tour lasts approximately two hours. The narration is live. Additionally, the educator utilizes multimedia materials, archival photographs, artwork, documents, and survivor testimonies. The app also allows for interaction with the guide and asking questions. All this allows for a fuller understanding of history and its contexts, despite not being physically present at the Memorial.

In online guided tours, we do not present museum exhibitions. Technology allows for the exhibition content to be embedded within the historical setting. The online tour also allows you to access several spaces, thanks to the video materials presented, that are either inaccessible to visitors, such as Block 10 at the former Auschwitz I camp, or located too far from the standard tour route, such as the sauna building at the former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp.

Who is the online tour intended for?

The online tour is intended for groups: schools, universities, educational institutions, museums, and companies. Groups can participate in the tour together (using a single screen in a larger room) or individually (each using their own device). The recommended minimum age for tour participants is 15 years.

Visit Structure:

- Tour of the former Auschwitz I camp with an introductory film (approx. 45 minutes)
- Break (approx. 15 minutes)
- Tour of the former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp with an introductory film (approx. 45 minutes)

Languages:

The tour is available in 7 languages: English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Polish, and Spanish

Visit format:

Joint group participation – all participants watch the broadcast on a single screen, e.g., in a classroom, conference room, or auditorium. One device with internet access, a camera, and a microphone (for asking questions) is required.

Individual participation – each member of the group can join the tour from their own device (computer, laptop, or tablet) by clicking the provided link and entering the access code.

After booking and paying for the tour, the group receives a set of access codes to the platform. Each code can only be used on one device, and the total number of codes (and therefore devices) is limited to 100.

The same internet connection and browser requirements apply to both modes (details below).

Individual visitors:

We do not organize separate tours for individuals. Anyone can book a tour online as a private tour.

Price:

The cost of an online guided tour is 690 PLN.

Reservations:

Reservations for tours can be made online using the visit.auschwitz.org system. After creating a user in the system, complete the form: visit.auschwitz.org: https://visit.auschwitz.org/formularz-online.html

Booking as part of larger projects:

Schools, institutions, or companies wishing to book online tours for larger groups on different dates are asked to contact the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation individually to arrange the details:

Additional resources for teachers

The Museum has prepared a set of educational materials that allow teachers to prepare students for the online tour and conduct follow-up activities afterward.

These materials include:

-) historical introductions,
-) suggested lesson plans,
-) problem-solving questions and discussion topics,
-) additional source and iconographic materials.

See additional educational resources

This makes the online tour not just a one-time event, but a starting point for deeper teaching and reflection in the classroom.

In addition, participants can also access lessons and podcasts on many aspects of the history of Auschwitz:
