Volkswagen's Support for the Museum
The Auschwitz Museum has received a Volkswagen Caddy as a donation from Volkswagen AG and the International Auschwitz Committee. The vehicle will be helpful not only for the day-to-day maintenance of the historic site but will also support logistics and the organization of many events at the Museum.
The cooperation between Volkswagen, the IAC, and the Museum has lasted for over three decades. Thanks to this partnership, many important international educational events have been organized, several lecture halls have been renovated, and several significant publications have been released.
A special aspect of this cooperation is the participation of German and Polish youth who, every year, help with preservation work at the historic site while also learning about the extremely difficult and complex history of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. During the handover of the vehicle on September 15, 2025, a group of young people beginning their stay at the Memorial was present.
'I would like to sincerely thank the friend of the Memorial, Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee Christoph Heubner, for his commitment. However, I want to emphasize that while we greatly value the material support of Volkswagen and the IAC, the most precious gift you give is providing young people from Volkswagen schools in Germany and Poland with the opportunity to experience the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial,' said Anna Skrzypińska, Deputy Director of the Museum.
'I am convinced that through the educational work of both the Vice President of the IAC and the educators of the Volkswagen company, many young people have asked themselves the fundamental questions of human life: about the limits of freedom, about responsibility, about effectiveness, and the necessity of taking active action,' added Anna Skrzypińska.
'Every year, this special place is visited by hundreds of thousands of people. Our wish is to support the Museum in carrying out its vital mission, for there is a strong bond between the young volunteers from Volkswagen and the staff of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. Together, we saw the need to provide a new vehicle that will help the Museum handle the growing number of tasks, especially at the site of the former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp,' said Christoph Heubner.
The International Auschwitz Committee and the Volkswagen Group are among the honored donors supporting education at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
Vehicles provided by Volkswagen in recent years have supported the conservation work of the Memorial, as well as the transportation of Survivors and experts participating in events organized by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust.
