Three Exhibitions to Mark the 60th Anniversary of the Museum
Three exhibitions will form part of the ceremonies connected with the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Museum at the site of the Nazi German Auschwitz I camp:
Lingering Presence, an exhibition of works by the Irish photographer Simon Watson, open from July 2 to August 2 in the former camp laundry barracks.
Pro Memoria, presenting selected items donated to the Museum over the last 60 years by various benefactors, with special emphasis on former prisoners—the initiators and creators of the Museum. The donated items include art works made in the camp and postwar artistic reflections of camp experiences. The exhibition is open from July 2 to August 2 in Block no. 12.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, 1947-2007, a calendar of selected events from the history of the Museum, illustrated with photographs. The exhibition will be presented in the visitor reception building starting July 2.
The latter two exhibitions were prepared by the staff of the Museum Exhibition Department, with concepts by Robert Płaczek and Teresa Zbrzeska and artistic arrangement by Edyta Chwistek and Elżbieta Pietruczuk.
