On January 27, 2020, we will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. Although the anniversary will be symbolically commemorated in different places in the world, the main event will take place at the authentic Memorial Site. The voice of Survivors and their message for the contemporary world will sound from this place, from the gate of the former Auschwitz II-Birkenau.

A very large group of survivors, as well as state delegation from several dozen countries, will attend the commemoration. The main event will start at 15.30 in front of the Gate of Death of Birkenau.

The schedule of anniversary events:

• welcome address by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda
• MAIN ADDRESSES - Auschwitz Survivors
• address of a representative of the "Pillars of Remembrance"
• word of thanks by the director of the Memorial Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński
• ecumenical prayers

Then, a delegation of Survivors, accompanied by heads of state delegations, will walk towards the monument located between the ruins of gas chambers and crematoria II and III. Candles will commemorate all victims of the Auschwitz camp.

The most important participants of the commemoration will be Auschwitz survivors. We estimate that on January 27 over 120 of them will come to the Memorial. We invite all former prisoners of the camp - each of them with one accompanying person. Here you can find contact information of the organization team.

'Survivors are already contacting us. You can see how important a visit to the Memorial will be for them. They hope that the whole world will commemorate the victims together with them, that the leaders who decide about our fate today and in the future, will listen carefully to the words of warning coming from their tragic fate,' said Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński, director of the Museum.

Delegations from several dozen countries from around the world will also take part in the anniversary commemoration. 'We already have several confirmations at the highest level, not all official yet. Although I am aware that representatives of the media in different countries will try to get this information first, we will present a list of the first confirmed guests in October,' said Bartosz Bartyzel, spokesman of the Museum. 'Soon, on 75.auschwitz.org, we will also publish the first information for journalists and TV stations that would be interested in broadcasting the event,' added Bartosz Bartyzel.

About 1,500 former prisoners took part in the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in 2005. In 2015, approximately 300 witnesses of the history of Auschwitz arrived at the Memorial.

The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, has assumed honorary patronage over the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. Further information on this event will be published on the website: 75.auschwitz.org.
