I Still Have So Much To Do. Temporary exhibition to show works of J.A. Brandhuber
The exhibition I Still Have So Much to Do - Jerzy Adam Brandhuber, Oct. 23 1897-June 19, 1981 is on view in the Museum's temporary exhibition room in Block no. 12 on the site of the former Auschwitz I-Main Camp from June 1 through the end of October 2001.
June 19 marks the twentieth anniversary of the death of the artist, a former Auschwitz Concentration Camp prisoner (camp number 87112) who worked at the Museum for many years after the war. The works shown in the exhibition, dating from the years 1946-1953, are an artistic depiction of events in the camp. They include drawings and graphics from such well known series as Auschwitz, Quarantine, and The Ramp. The exhibition also features Jerzy Ziarnik's short documentary film W zakletym kregu (In the Enchanted Circle), a biography showing Brandhuber at work on his pictures. The artist reminisces about working in the Museum soon after it opened, and talks about the cycle of pictures he was working on at the time, and about his artistic plans.
The works on display come from the collections of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, and the exhibition is organized by the Exhibition Department of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. The exhibition is open from Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
