AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU FORMER GERMAN NAZI CONCENTRATION AND EXTERMINATION CAMP
Thanks to the promise of the Polish Ministry of Culture, National Heritage, and Sport of almost 21,5 million zlotys it will be possible to erect the hostel together with its necessary infrastructure near the new Auschwitz Memorial Visitor Services Center, currently under construction.
Exclusions in the modern world are the topic of the International Educational Conference organized by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at the Auschwitz Memorial. It will take place on July 7-8, 2021, and due to the pandemic will be held only online.
The Auschwitz Museum Archives has completed a two-year project, “Reconstructing the identities of deportees and prisoners of KL Auschwitz based on archival data from the Auschwitz Memorial and the Arolsen Archives.”
The Auschwitz Memorial, together with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute, announce the international competition “My Memory, My Responsibility. At my Place”.
From 1 February 2021 the site of the former German Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp is again open to visitors. Reservations for guided tours, as well as individual entry can now be made online at visit.auschwitz.org.
Children in the camp constituted the leitmotif of the 76th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, on January 27th the events commemorating the anniversary were exceptionally held not within the Memorial Site, but online.
Images from www.auschwitz.org may be used only in publications relating to the history of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau or the activities of the Auschwitz Memorial. Their use must not tarnish the good reputation of the victims of KL Auschwitz. Any interference in the integrity of the images – including cropping or graphic processing – is prohibited. The use of the images for commercial purposes requires the Museum’s approval and information about the publication. Publishers undertake to indicate the authors and origin of the images: www.auschwitz.org, as well as to inform the Museum of the use of the images (press@auschwitz.org).
