Additional information for people with intellectual disabilities
The museum lesson "Difficult - simple words" is available for charges of educational and childcare institutions.
These are special activities for groups that take place at the Museum.
As part of the lesson, you can take a guided tour of the exhibition. This is someone who will conduct a tour of the exhibition and answer questions.
What does a visit during a museum lesson look like?
People with intellectual disabilities may have difficulty understanding some of the information. They may also tire more quickly from the strain of having to do a lot of walking.
The lesson "Difficult - simple words" is tailored to meet the needs of people with intellectual disabilities. The guide speaks in simple language and does not use difficult words. They narrate the camp's story without overwhelming with excessive details.
They also make sure everyone in the group feels safe and not afraid, even if there are lots of other people visiting the Museum.
What can you see during a museum lesson?
You will visit the site of the former Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp.
At the exhibition you will see:
● what life was like for prisoners in the concentration camp
● where prisoners lived and worked
● what clothes the prisoners wore and what they ate
● how people were transported to the camp
At the exhibtion, you will also see plenty of photographs taken in the camp. You will also see objects that belonged to the victims, such as suitcases, shoes or glasses.
Important information about the museum lesson
Participation in the museum lesson is free, meaning you do not have to pay to attend.
The guided museum lesson lasts 2.5 hours.
As part of the lesson, you will visit the Museum as a group.
Each group may consist of up to 30 people.
A reservation must be made in advance to participate in a museum lesson. You must call or write to the Museum to indicate your desired arrival date
