Open sector

On January 26 and 27, 2025, the Museum will be closed to visitors. Due to the limited number of seats in the tent where the main commemoration will take place, a special open sector will be made available on January 27 for all who wish to pay tribute to this special anniversary at the Memorial.

Below you will find the most important organizational guidelines regarding the open sector.

LOCATION AND ENTRY RULES FOR THE SECTOR

  • Location: the grounds of the former Birkenau camp (the historical BIb sector).
  • Open sector hours on January 27: 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Entry to the sector: with a free entry pass. The pass is valid only together with a document confirming the identity of the person holding it.
  • Infrastructure in the sector: a small technical tent with a limited number of seats and a large screen (telebim) where you can follow the commemoration taking place inside the main tent.
  • You may bring with you into the sector: a meal, drinks, and a folding chair. Please do not take larger luggage and drinks in metal thermoses
  • Leaving the sector is possible; a Museum bus will take you back to the parking lot.

PARKING INFORMATION

  • Please leave your vehicle at the Spec-bruk company parking lot, entrance from Ofiar Faszyzmu Street in Brzezinka: https://maps.app.goo.gl/7aeazHPVM1eLu6Q77
    IMPORTANT: Access to this parking lot will be possible only from the direction of the town of Harmęże.
  • Please do not rely on the route suggested by navigation.
    Recommended route:
    From Oświęcim, take DK44 toward Pszczyna (DW933) → Brzeszcze (Pszczyńska Street) → turn right onto Budy Street → Bór → Strażacka → Borska → Browarna → Borowskiego → Wojewódzka → Pławska → Ofiar Faszyzmu → (parking).
  • Please remember to bring a document that can verify your identity.
  • A Museum bus will run from the parking lot to the open sector, where there will be a pyrotechnic check similar to airport procedures, so bringing dangerous items or materials is strictly prohibited.
  • IMPORTANT: Due to traffic disruptions, you can only reach the parking lot by your own vehicle or organized transport. It will not be possible to arrive on foot or by public transportation.
  • Parking lot hours: 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

  • Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive a free, personalized entry pass.
  • We kindly ask you to familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations for visiting and staying on the Museum grounds.
