MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU FORMER GERMAN NAZI
CONCENTRATION AND EXTERMINATION CAMP

The commemoration event of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp will take place on 27 January 2020. It will be organized by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. The accreditation for media is planned for January 2020.

ACCREDITATION & PRESS CENTER

The accreditation process has ended. All journalists who filled in the accreditation form will receive full media information on 23 January at the latest. There is no more a possibility to get accredited for the 75th anniversary of liberation of Auschwitz.

Journalist will be able to pick the accreditations from mid-day January 26 until mid-day January 27.

Different pools will be created for agency photographers, who will be present in the main tent of the anniversary event, as well as for camera operators and photojournalists who will observe the laying of candles by former prisoners and official delegations at the monument in the former Birkenau camp. Other journalists will observe the entire event from the Press Center where simultaneous translations as well as TV & audio signal will be available. Outside of the Press Center „live broadcast” positions will be prepared.

Press Center will be open until 22.00 CET. Electricity at live positions will be available until 5 am on January 28. 

Attention: only press agency photographers will be able to enter into the main tent of the commemoration event.

TV BROADCAST

The Polish television (TVP) will be the producer of the official TV broadcasting signal during the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on 27 January 2020.

TVP will broadcast both the wreath placing at the Wall of Death in Auschwitz I at 8.30 am as well as the main commemoration event at 15.30 pm.

The free TV signal available in satellite transmissions will be available to TV stations around the world. All TV stations interested in satellite transmission are advised to contact Ewa Borkowska from TVP (+48 22 547 68 55, ewa.borkowska@tvp.pl).

The same coordinates can be used to receive the TV signal from the commemoration event at 8.00 am (CET) during which Survivors will lay wreaths at the execution wall.

Streaming of the anniversary events with simultaneous translation into Polish and English will also be available in HD quality at www.auschwitz.org, on YouTube and social media sites of the Auschwitz Memorial. 

MEDIA MEETING WITH AUSCHWITZ SURVIVORS AND MEDIA BREFING OF THE MUSEUM DIRECTOR

On 26 January 2020 we will organize two event for accredited journalist at the Public Library in Oświęcim. At 11.00 am there will be a media briefing of the director of the Auschwitz Memorial Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński. From 12.00 pm three meeting with Auschwitz Survivors will take place. Each of them will be attended by a small group of Survivors and each will last ca. 2 hours. The meetings will be morderated. Because of huge interest of journalist we do not plan a possibility on individual interviews.
