MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU FORMER GERMAN NAZI
CONCENTRATION AND EXTERMINATION CAMP

Memoir literature

By listening to stories of survivors, we can try to understand the message from Auschwitz and build a genuine hierarchy of values. It is thanks to the testimonies of survivors that we remember the fate of the victims and pose critical questions about human nature. Therefore, it is crucial to revisit the warning given to us by the departing witnesses.

The memoirs of survivors constitute the majority of the Museum’s publications available in several languages. The witnesses pass away, but written word remains. When organising a meeting, discussion panel, an evening of memoir literature, we encourage you to include the message of the survivors in the programme.
