International competition: "My memory. My responsibility. At my place."
The Auschwitz Memorial, in co-operation with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute, announces an international competition entitled: "My memory. My responsibility. At my place". We will accept entries until 21 March.
The competition's goal is to find the most interesting projects which, by referring to the history of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz, draw attention to issues of our contemporary responsibility for the world, especially in the local dimension.
The University of Burgos supports the memory of Auschwitz
The vice-chancellor of the University of Burgos, Manuel Pérez Mateos, and Álvaro Enrique de Villamor y Soraluce, President of the National Auschwitz Birkenau Institute in Spain and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Spain, signed a cooperation agreement for the joint development of activities aimed at commemorating the atrocities perpetrated in human history, as well as demonstrating the value of solidarity experienced by the prisoners of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Inauguration of the exhibition and temporary seat of the National Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute in Spain
In the San Salvador monastery in Oña, in the Spanish Burgos region, temporary seat of the National Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute in Spain was inaugurated. Three exhibitions are presented there: “German Nazi Death Camp Konzentrationslager Auschwitz”, “Oświęcim 1920-1930” and “Poland under occupation”.
Summary of the international competition “My memory, my responsibility. In my place.”
The first edition of the international competition “My memory, my responsibility. In my place”, organised by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute, has come to an end. The jury selected the winners from among several dozen works submitted from 11 countries.

The Auschwitz Memorial, together with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute, announce the international competition “My Memory, My Responsibility. At my Place”. It is addressed to all those aged 18 and above who would like to get involved in creating the international network commemorating victims of the German Nazi Auschwitz camp and the Holocaust.
Inauguration of the First National Institute of Auschwitz-Birkenau in Spain
On 6 October in Logroño, in the autonomous community of La Rioja, the establishment of the National Institute of Auschwitz-Birkenau in Spain was officially announced, which will support the activities of the Auschwitz Museum Diplomacy of Remembrance in the country.
First Auschwitz Memorial Honorary Consuls Appointed
On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, two first Auschwitz Memorial Honorary Consuls were appointed. Maria Zalewska from the United States and Enrique de Villamor y Soraluce from Spain will act on behalf of the Diplomacy of Remembrance network developed by the Museum.
The Auschwitz Museum Appreciated by the Portuguese Royal Dynasty
Director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum Dr. Piotr Cywiński, was honoured with the commandery of the Order of Saint Sebastian and Marianna Ossolińska, Head of the Diplomacy of Remembrance at the Auschwitz Museum and President of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Institute, with a medal awarded to women.
Exhibition about history of Auschwitz opened in Guernica, Spain
The exhibition "German Nazi Death Camp Konzentrationslager Auschwitz" opened on October 1 in Guernica, Spain, in the historical interior of the anti-aircraft shelter. The exhibition, prepared by the Museum and translated into Spanish, presents all the major issues of the history of Auschwitz, as well as the origins of the Nazi movement and the specific elements of the German terror system introduced in occupied Poland. The project in Spain is implemented in cooperation with Asociación Pro Tradición y Cultura Europea.
