Description
Was it possible to paint, sculpt, and draw in the hell of Auschwitz? The answer is yes. Art meant relief and distraction from the terrible realities of camp life. It was a door into another, (normal( world and held out the hope of surviving. The album contains an interesting selection of drawings, sketches, and other forms of art by prisoners including such renowned Polish artists as Xawery Dunikowski and Bronisław Czech.
Includes biographical notes on the artists; inserts in English and German.
